Valerie Nichols

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Under the Supervision of Dr. Scott Floyd, LPC-S

Prior to entering private practice, Valerie served as the Director of Client Services at a local pregnancy center, where she provided crisis intervention to women facing unplanned pregnancies. Her passion for supporting families and addressing their emotional and physical needs was evident in her work, and she also took on the responsibility of training volunteer staff in crisis response, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all clients.

Valerie gained her counseling experience at the Baptist Marriage and Family Counseling Center in Fort Worth, where she worked with individuals and groups who had experienced trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. She also spent time at Travis Avenue Counseling Center, providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families struggling with anxiety, depression, relational issues, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, and life transitions. She collaborated closely with both clients and their family members to strengthen relationships and support holistic recovery.

AREAS OF SPECIALTY

Valerie specializes in treating clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, grief, child loss, the terminal illness of a child, and caregiver compassion fatigue. She is also passionate about supporting law enforcement officers and their spouses, helping them navigate the challenges their work imposes on family life and find meaningful ways to reconnect.

Valerie finds it a privilege to walk alongside individuals during some of life’s most challenging moments. Her combination of professional experience and genuine desire to see positive change has made her a compassionate and effective counselor.

In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and three children.  She also loves traveling, reading, and being in nature.
